UTILITY ALUMINUM CABLES

Category Link Icon
  • Bare ACAR conductors are intended for use as overhead transmission, primary or secondary distribution conductor. The 6201-T81 aluminum wire core and the outer 1350-H19 aluminum wires provide an optimal balance between conductor strength and current carrying capacity, allowing for greater conductor currents at longer spans between supports. An ACAR conductor has a higher strength and ampacity when compared to an ACSR conductor of the same weight. This conductor also has good corrosion resistance.
ACAR — ALUMINUM CONDUCTOR ALUMINUM ALLOY 6201 REINFORCED
  • Aluminum alloy 1350-H19 wires concentrically stranded over an aluminum alloy 6201-T81 high strength wire core. Optional non-specular outer layer finish.

  • ASTM B230 – Aluminum 1350–H19 Wire for Electrical Purposes
  • ASTM B398 – Aluminum-Alloy 6201-T81 and 6201-T83 Wire for Electrical Purposes
  • ASTM B524 – Concentric-Lay-Stranded Aluminum Conductors, Aluminum-Alloy Reinforced (ACAR, 1350/6201)

Notes:
  1. Dimensions and weights are subject to standard manufacturing tolerances and are subject to change without notice.
  2. Resistance is calculated using metal conductivity of 61.2% IACS for EC (1350) at 20 ºC and 52.5% IACS for 6201 at 20 ºC.
  3. Ampacities are based on 75 ºC conductor temperature, 25 ºC ambient, 2 ft/s wind, full sun, an emissivity of 0.5 and a coefficient of solar absorption of 0.5, at sea level.
